The convention timetable needed to be so prepared as to unfold the most subject matters over numerous separate periods. It used to be for that reason determined to post the fabric in those complaints lower than 9 topic headings, without reference to consultation. inside every one bankruptcy, that's preceded via an inventory of the periods that includes the topic, all papers, invited and contributed, even if offered on the convention or authorized for booklet merely, were prepared in a few lo gical order. The experiences of the 4 Panel Discussions have been edited or summarized through the respective Moderator in session with Panel participants. in a single example, shortened types of the Introductory Papers precede the dialogue. the place attainable, verbatim bills of the usually full of life exchanges were retained. The general catalogue of high-energy acceler ators has been released individually. the ongoing world-wide actions in accelerator study, witl1 its ever better professional jects, are mirrored via the various contributions approved for inclusion in those court cases, that have reached the restrict of what a unmarried quantity can manageably include, whereas making swift e-book even tougher to accomplish. all of the extra cause to increase the gratitude of all con cerned to these all in favour of the chain of creation: - To the authors, for his or her suggested handing-in or well timed posting in their papers. thank you additionally to their secretaries who the tips for the presentation of camera-ready copy.

There are nine sextupole circuits, nine quadrupole circuits and one circuit which includes all the bends and the interaction-region quadrupoles. Each circuit is driven by thyristor-chopper power supplies running from common 600 VDC busses. In addition to the chopper supplies, there are about 120 bipolar transistor actuators for various trim and steering magnet circuits. As a consequence of PEP•s delayed and compressed installation schedule, the power supplies and their magnet circuits were not completed as systems until just before beam turn~on so that little time was available for testing, and system debugging was carried out simultaneously with beam tests throughout April and May.

Figure 4 shows the computed linear beam-beam tune-shift from this data. 025 and 0. 03 . In the single-bunch mode, higher bunch currents were successfully collided with a visible increase in vertical beam size and the luminosity saturated. 5 I SINGLE BUNCH CURRENT Figure 3 (mA) 3117A2 • - oi I 0 6-10 - • • 000 0 0 5 2 -. 01 _J Jll7 .. 02- 0 :::;: ::::l •-•o 0 a:: u ......... 3m 20 I I - I 2 Figure 4 4 3 SINGLE BUNCH CURRENT (mAl - 13 of one or both beams is significantly reduced. at this time, been extended into this regime.

Improved diagnostics, including a vertical "pinger" magnet for explol"ing the vertical aperture, and a polarimeter for continuous monitoring of the polarization of the beams, will be installed. The feedback system, used to suppress coherent oscillations of the beams, will continue its development. In the farther future, a superconducting RF accelerating module oper;iting at 1500 MHz is being prepared for installation in the CESR ring. This experiment will provide the experience necessary for the continued development of this techno 1ogy, which will be a crucial element in high energy e+e- storage rings of the future.
