Part of learning how to improvise faithfully is done by attending to assessments of pivotal political issues, to theological critiques of these issues, and to how Christians have responded, both negatively and positively, to these issues in practice. At the same time, a completely fragmentary approach that forgoes any pattern or consistent shape to Christian political witness is theologically and practically unsustainable.
